Allison Melton is a Family Law and Criminal Defense Attorney at Melton & Griffin, PLLC. As a former Caddo Parish Public Defender and Assistant District Attorney with experience in both the Appellate and Trial divisions, Allison brings a wide range of courtroom and negotiation experience that helps her achieve justice for her clients.
A Highly Skilled & Dedicated Client Advocate
Allison is committed to providing clients with strategic counsel and unwavering support. As a former prosecutor, she understands how the government views those facing criminal accusations and uses that firsthand knowledge to her clients’ advantage. She believes everyone deserves not just an attorney, but one who will staunchly advocate on their behalf — whether they are facing criminal charges or navigating the complexities of divorce and child custody.
From Gladewater to the Courtroom
Growing up in Gladewater, Texas, Allison discovered her passion for helping others while working at the Federal Public Defender’s Office during college. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2014 and her Juris Doctorate from Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she developed her love for family law through the school’s family law clinic.
After being admitted to the Louisiana Bar in 2020, Allison served at the Caddo Parish Public Defender’s Office and later as an Assistant District Attorney, sharpening her skills across both appellate and trial work. She then opened her own successful practice in Shreveport before returning home to Tyler, Texas, in 2025 to be closer to family.
Allison now operates Melton & Griffin, PLLC, alongside her husband and law partner, John Griffin. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, her parents, and her mean Chihuahua, Nagini.
